Aberdeen accommodation: Built in 1897, Pagel House Bed and Breakfast, situated in secluded and secure Stockenstrom Street, is one of the regal Ostrich Villas in Aberdeen. Present owner Lynette Dugmore has lovingly restored and preserved this 118-year old Victorian Ostrich Villa to its former glory, complete with period furnishings and finishes. The house has a beautiful wrap-around verandah with an original stained glass, resting nook on the outside with original painted, pressed ceilings and yellow-wood floors in many of the rooms.
The Aberdeen Pagel house has a beautiful, spacious and tranquil garden for guests to enjoy. The gardens are luscious and green, watered by the old, leading water (leiwater) farrows running through the property. Guests will enjoy the array of birds that visit the Pagel House garden in the day and the beautiful starry skies in the evening.

The Aberdeen district is renowned for its wool and mohair, being the largest mohair producing area in South Africa. Aberdeen has a remarkably healthy climate, a restful and rustic atmosphere, unpolluted air and unequalled, starry night skies.
There are 38 Aberdeens worldwide, and although we may be accused of being biased, we think that our Aberdeen is the best!
Aberdeen was named after the birthplace in Scotland of Rev Andrew Murray, this small town, which was established in 1856, has experienced many periods of boom and decline.
Many folk have chosen to retire in Aberdeen because of the peace and tranquility of the Karoo. The air is clean and the pace of life is much slower than that of the city.
Property prices are very affordable by comparison, and because of this, newer residents are able to repair and restore these homes to their former glory.
Aberdeen is rich in history and architectural structures, with Victorian ostrich baron palaces rubbing shoulders with sturdy Karoo houses and more modern 20th century homes. You’ll find influences include Georgian, Gothic, Russian, and Flemish styles in the various styles of building design.
All South Africans know about the famous Karoo lamb and it’s distinctive tasting meat, attributed to the unique Karoo grazing. Most of the farms have been in the same family for many generations, and a variety of sheep, goats, ostriches and cattle somehow manage to thrive in this arid semi-desert. Although Aberdeen may appear small on the map, it has a huge historical heritage. You would do yourself a great injustice if you did not spend some time in this quite town, allowing your soul to detox from city life.

Dit was ‘n ongelooflike ervaring in die klein karoo dorpie. Dis soos ‘n oasis in die karoo . ‘n Heerlike ontvlugting vir die stadsjapie en plattelander. Die Victoriaanse ontwerp roep vele herinneringe en oue lange stories wat deel uit maak van ons land se geskiedenis. Die kamers met hul individuele dekor skep ‘n goeie indruk van die tipe eienaar en mens waarmee jy te doen het. Lynn(Lynette) soos sy haar bekend stel en haar personeel laat jou tuis voel soos in jou ma/ouma se kombuis. Die heerlike tuisgemaakte konfyt uit haar pragtige tuin laat die smaakkliere gil van lekker kry. Dit is ‘n onbeskryflike tog bekende gevoel wat by jou bly soos jy ‘n deur die tuin stap en bekende geluide hoor wat die bedrywighede van die lewe uitdoof. Kom vind die dierbare mens wat binne jou skuil.

As a child, I came to Aberdeen many times, but in one visit to Pagel House, my perception of this lovely Karoo town was totally changed. This is a truly magnificent Victorian style house decorated amazingly. Lynette and her staff are warm hearted and excellent in what they do in such a way that you cannot help to feel peace coming over you. I could never thought that such beauty exist in this town. I am lost for words. What a memorable experience. I can recommend Pagel House even for newly weds like us. The luxury room will make the perfect honeymoon suite. The garden has many beautiful spots to excite photographers.

What a wonderful overnight stay we had at Pagel House last week. We were on our way to the Wilderness and decided to stay over in Aberdeen. I wish I could have spent my whole holiday at Pagel House. It is so relaxing, interesting, fascinating – my husband and I were lucky to have the ‘Blue Room’ – took so many photos of the room! I thought I was a collector, but was completely amazed at the fantastic collection Lyn has amassed. The garden is so peaceful – I could honestly spend a whole week there and just read and relax and explore Aberdeen. The breakfast was delicious – with homegrown fruit and homemade jams. My husband and I are planning to go back in the next few months to spend a bit more

The Turquoise Room
This pretty slightly feminine room appeals more often to the ladies or those who prefer a bath. It is also decorated in period furniture complete with beautiful antique bath. Brings back memories of a more rest full opulent time.
The Blue Room
This large ever popular room has been tastefully decorated with period furniture collected in SA and abroad. The Ever popular Blue Bathroom is a feast for the eye and sole, this has an antique bath , basin and toilet. Lying in this bath you have a view of the garden.
The Green Room
This large sunny room with large window letting in sun most of the day. Tastefully furnished with antique furniture. This room is ideal for people traveling with a child as there is a single and double bed in the room. Liked by people preferring to shower.
The Garden Room
As the name says this room is situated in the Garden under large trees, so beautifully cool in the hot months. This room appeals to the nature lovers , those that prefer their own space and families. It is also ideal for those preferring to self cater or longer stays.
